Committed to the promotion and introduction of contemporary music and digital arts in Mexico since more than a decade, Damián Romero has come a significant period of time leaving traces each step taken.
He has not only given life to the International Festival of Digital Creativity MUTEK Mexico, since 2003, giving for the first time to the country such an event of international talent in a large format, exposing the most relevant and purposeful proposals for the global digital creation. At present it is one of the few Mexican independent festivals that have remained firm in the last thirteen years, positioning itself as a unique platform in the country focused on cultural innovation, but he has also been persistent and committed to creativity and local digital art presenting projects of talent export in Beijing and Shanghai (China), Tokyo and Nagoya (Japan), Montreal (Canada), New York (USA), Cologne and Berlin (Germany) as well as Argentina and Chile.
Currently, Damián heads his firm IMECA, international platform for collective creation, made up of directors of Canada, France and Mexico working in different fields with a point of convergence: technological arts, the graphic universe, sound and infinite field of innovation.
MUTEK.MX
MUTEK.MX is the international festival for digital creativity taking place anually in Mexico City. MUTEK is a platform for the dissemination and development of digital creativity in sound, music and audiovisual arts. Its mandate is to provide a platform for the most original and visionary artists currently working in these fields, with the intention of providing a space of initiation and discovery for audiences. The main activity of MUTEK is the annual presentation of the festival of the same name, which happens in the city of Montreal, Quebec in Canada since 2000. Since its first edition, the MUTEK festival has distinguished itself as an international event that hosts cutting edge programs. In terms of content the festival strives to be diverse with an interest in experimental and playful sides of digital creativity, supporting innovation in new music and digital art.
