After studying cultural action management in Bordeaux, Sébastien Paule founded Illusion & Macadam in 2002. Nowadays this group of companies, formed as a collective interest cooperative, provides support services to promote the socio-economic development of the cultural sector via consultancy, training, management and event production activities.

He has also been actively participating since 2008 in the development of SMartFr, the management services cooperative for artists, a project set up in 10 towns across France that is now expanding on a European level. He is an administrator, founder and board member of SMartFr.

He complements this work with training sessions (under the title of “Running Social Economy Enterprises”), as well as activities that recognise and defend the economic role and potential for innovation of those involved in culture (the latter as part of UR Scop’s Alter’Incub initiative or Mouves, the movement for social entrepreneurs, for whom he is a board member).
