BIO

A fashion journalist in France at Le Monde, M Le Monde and Les Inrockuptibles, for a long time now Alice Pfeiffer has also been writing for publications as diverse as the New York Times, The Guardian, i-D and Dazed&Confused.

The holder of a Master’s degree in Gender Studies from the prestigious London School of Economics, she has a keen interest in gender issues and, in a more general sense, in the sociological aspects of fashion.

By no means limited to the world of luxury designers, she is fascinated by all four corners of the fashion world: sportswear; work clothes; counterfeiting; the role of clothing in demonstrations or political movements; the subversion of luxury and/or religious codes (above all in the Arab world); the ‘uniforms’ imposed in artistic or musical circles. Rather than approaching fashion as a simple ‘fan’ or ‘consumer’, she endeavours to analyse the symbolism of fashion’s rich tapestry, and how it both socially mirrors and reinforces contemporary society.
